NEW LAKE RECORD!!

Dave Todd caught this monster of a catfish this morning on chicken liver. It was a massive 35" and 22.75 pounds! He set the standard for the upcoming catfish open!

Catfish Open At Shabbona Lake

Saturday, August 21st will be the date of the Shabbona Lake Catfish Open. The hours will be 6 AM - 7 PM. The winner will be determined by the Heaviest Catfish Stinger, up to limit of six fish. This is an individual event and stringers cannot be combined.

Catfish may be weighed in any time prior to 7 PM. Prizes will be for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, $100, $50 & $25 respectfully. Catfish are feeding up heavily during this time and some monsters should be caught.

We will have a Walleye stocking donation jar, set up at Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental, for each event. If you donate $5.00 or more to the Walleye Fund, and you place 1st in the Catfish Open, your cash prize will be doubled.

Pokanoka's Cafe will also be offering its famous "Dollar Day Specials" on Saturday, August 21st.
